I came to astrology in 2011 — skeptical but burning with curiosity — and discovered an ancient system of profound beauty for understanding the human spirit. A decade later, a turbulent season in my own life revealed something more: that astrology can offer solace, helping us weave coherent stories from what might otherwise feel like chaos.

I grew up in an emotionally turbulent household marked by domestic violence and neglect, an experience that left me pursuing safety and security at the cost of my own wellbeing. At my Saturn Return, I found myself burnt out in a successful but misaligned career, going through the motions in an unfulfilling relationship, and longing for a future I could be proud of. Then 2022 brought a series of eclipses to my Midheaven and Saturn transiting my Descendant, catalyzing changes that left me gasping for air: I left my job, ended my relationship, and became a caretaker to an ailing family member. In the wreckage, I asked myself, "What does it all mean?"

I set about deepening my spiritual practices. Astrology became a constant companion, helping me reframe my experiences and reconnect with who I always knew I was. Returning to brush and canvas did the same, rebuilding my confidence and making self-reflection feel alive again.

Within a few years, I had moved to a city I loved, found a relationship with genuine connection, reinvigorated my art, and set off on a new career path. That's where Bright Shadow Astrology began.

The name comes from the Sun-Pluto opposition in my natal chart, a reminder that light and shadow are both essential to growth. Founded in 2026, it was born during a particularly turbulent time in the world, which felt like exactly the right moment.
